Im Folgenden dokumentieren wir die Bitte der "Association of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender people and their friends - Mozaika" in Lettland um finanzielle Unterstützung für die "Riga Friendship Days 2007".

In a tender announced by the Society Integration Foundation of Latvia in 2006, the Association of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender people and their friends “Mozaika” acquired financing for the project “Riga Friendship Days 2007”. The great importance of this project was acknowledged, and the experts awarded the project almost the maximum number of points.

The total amount granted for the “Riga Friendship Days 2007” project was EUR 41,140, however, for the successful accomplishment of all project activities additional EUR 4,200 in co-financing are needed by May 28, 2007.

We kindly ask you to consider supporting “Mozaika” by contributing to the financing of the “Friendship Days 2007” project (the total additional funds needed amount to EUR 4,200).

The aim of the “Friendship Days 2007” project is to diminish intolerance and discrimination in Latvia in particular towards sexual minorities, and to promote understanding about questions related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people (LGBT).

As part of the project we plan to hold the following activities: a cultural program consisting of an art exhibition, several film screenings and concerts, a discourse program that will include seminars on a number of important topics, as well as an information campaign about the aims of “Riga Friendship Days 2007” and the overall status of human rights in Latvia.

Alongside the afore-mentioned activities, we will also hold an all-day conference on the diversity of family models in Latvia and elsewhere in Europe. On June 3rd as part of the “Friendship Days” celebration, the Pride parade will take place.

Through this project, discussions on the themes of diversity, discrimination, and intolerance towards various groups in Latvian society will be initiated. To avert emotional and social pressure in society and to achieve equal rights for all it is important to initiate a discussion about human rights in social, professional and political settings.

We would be grateful for your support. Depending on your wishes, we can publish information about the supporter on our website, the informative material that will be distributed, and mention the supporter during events of the Friendship Days, however anonymity can also be ensured.

Material support can be transferred to the “Mozaika” bank account, the requisites of which are:
