Webtalk with Julia Maciocha (Pride Warzaw) and Krisztina Kolos Orbán (transvanilla) on occasion of Human Rights Day
LGBTI are the new number one enemy of the state in Poland and Hungary. While so called LGBT-free zones are being proclaimed in our neighbouring country and sexual and reproductive rights are being massively attacked, Hungary is denying legal recognition to transgender and intersex people and now wants to enshrine discrimination against LGBTI in the constitution.
Why has this massive backlash been around for a few years? What fuels restrictive policies and hateful rhetoric? What are the differences and similarities between these two countries? How does the LSBTI community stand up in both countries? What support is needed? What do activists expect from the EU Commission's new LGBTI strategy? Are sanctions helpful or are they only fuelling nationalist anti-LGBTI policies?
This will be discussed live by LSVD Federal Board member Alfonso Pantisano in a webtalk with Julia Maciocha (Pride Warsaw) and Krisztina Kolos Orban (transvanilla) on Tuesday, 8 December, from 18:30 to 20:00.
The Webtalk "At risk! LSBTI in Poland and Hungary" will be broadcast live on the LSVD-Facebook page and then published as a video. The Webtalk takes place in English.
